Consider The Lilies
Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do
Mat 6:25 ¶ Therefore I say unto you,
Take no thought for your life, what ye
shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor
yet for your body, what ye shall put
on. Is not the life more than meat,
and the body than raiment?
Mat 6:26 Behold the fowls of the air:
for they sow not, neither do they
reap, nor gather into barns; yet your
heavenly Father feedeth them. Are
ye not much better than they?
Mat 6:27 Which of you by taking
thought can add one cubit unto his
Mat 6:28 And why take ye thought
for raiment? Consider the lilies of the
field, how they grow; they toil not,
neither do they spin:
Mat 6:29 And yet I say unto you,
That even Solomon in all his glory
was not arrayed like one of these.
Mat 6:30 Wherefore, if God so
clothe the grass of the field, which to
day is, and to morrow is cast into the
oven, [shall he] not much more
[clothe] you, O ye of little faith?
Mat 6:31 Therefore take no thought,
saying, What shall we eat? or, What
shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall
we be clothed?
Mat 6:32 (For after all these things
do the Gentiles seek:) for your
heavenly Father knoweth that ye
have need of all these things.
Mat 6:33 But seek ye first the
kingdom of God, and his
righteousness; and all these things
shall be added unto you.
Mat 6:34 Take therefore no thought
for the morrow: for the morrow shall
take thought for the things of itself.
Sufficient unto the day [is] the evil
I've noticed that I go on and on
sometimes in my thoughts about
what should I do if..... I find myself
concerned over little things ... just
now and then, but I still do this.
Look at the picture on this stat. With
such patience He teaches His
children. The only thing we have to
do is approach Him with the
curiousity and trust of a child. Some
of us are like children in our walk
with Him, some are more like
teenagers, and still some are
decidedly adult. But it becomes
painfully clear that the "older" we get
....... more comfortable and
complacent ...... the more frustrated
and worried we tend to become.
I love going to for a walk (used to
anyway while I was able to take long
walks) and just observe the little
animals and birds; the flowers and
trees........ especially in the deep of
fall or first of spring. They don't have
a care for how to find food or nesting
materials. They've not been given the
"common sense" that man posesses
(presumably!!! lololol) to watch for
sales and buy all they need or want.
God takes perfect care of them
Children have no concerns about
how they get fed or get their clothing
in most cases. God cares for them
I guess the gist of this note is that we
need to be calm and trust that we are
where we need to be and that God
DOES care of every single thing we
need. I can't count the times that the
tiniest things (things that sound plain
silly to most) have worked out
perfectly just by believing that God
has already done it!
Go through this journey of lent with
the calm of nature and the trust of a
child. Let them teach us how to live
